Prominent Vietnamese to be honored at National Patriotic Emulation Congress

(VOVWORLD) - The 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress will take place on Friday and Saturday in Hanoi with the theme “Promoting innovation and creativity, accelerating breakthroughs to usher the country into an era of strong, civilized and prosperous development.”

2,025 participants will be heroes, representatives of heroic collectives, national emulation fighters, and outstanding role models from across the country. 

 The oldest delegate is Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, 98, a Labor Hero and former Vice President of Vietnam. The five youngest delegates, aged 11, are sixth-grade pupils from Can Tho, Ha Tinh, Dong Thap, Thai Nguyen and Cao Bang provinces. In attendance will be 41 overseas Vietnamese and foreign nationals who have made significant contributions to Vietnam.

“The Congress demonstrates the strong political determination of the Party and the State to continue promoting the tradition of patriotic emulation, viewing emulation as an important solution to mobilize the combined strength of the political system, the business community and the people in national construction and development," Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, told a press conference on Wednesday.

"It is also an opportunity to commend exemplary collectives and individuals, who represent the intellect, willpower, dedication and creativity of the Vietnamese people in the new era,” she added. 

Side events will be a photo exhibition of national socio-economic development achievements and cultural and artistic exchanges.
