Pyongyang protests new UN sanctions

(VOVWORLD) - North Korea hit back against the latest sanctions adopted by the UN and threatened to take strategic measures by fully mobilizing its national power. 

A spokesperson for the North Korean Asia-Pacific Peace Committee made a statement, which was published by state news agency KCNA on Tuesday.

In a separate statement, Pyongyang also blamed Seoul for conducting live fire exercises near the western border with the North, and insisted to the South that it can turn western front-line islands and even Seoul into a sea of flame.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said US officials are considering furthering the defense capabilities of South Korea to tackle military threats from the North.

Also on Tuesday in the Philippines,  South Korea’s Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha criticized North Korea’s actions, urging the country to halt its nuclear program.
