Quang Ninh vows to maintain top spot in PCI ranking
(VOVWORLD) - The northen border province of Quang Ninh is considered a role model in improving the business environment to increase competitiveness, according to a Monday meeting in Quang Ninh on the Provincial Competitive Index (PCI) in 2019 and orientations for 2021.

Quang Ninh province topped the PCI ranking in both 2017 and 2018. Vice Chairman of the provincal People's Committee Nguyen Van Thang said: “We should focus on unofficial expenses, business support services, and improving legal institutions. Our goal for this year is to raise the ranking of all component indexes to maintain our position atop the PCI.”
Meeting participants noted that although Quang Ninh topped the PCI Index in 2018, some component indexes were not in the top 10.
“Quang Ninh needs to be open in resolving businesses’ issues. There should be an independent assessment of departments and agencies’ performance,” said Nguyen Minh Thao, Head of the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM)’s Business Environment and Competitiveness Department.
