(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that Red Rain (Mưa đỏ), directed by Dang Thai Huyen and depicting the 1972 Quang Tri Trị battle, will represent Vietnam in the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.

The screenplay, written by novelist Chu Lai, features large-scale battle scenes filmed on a 50-hectare set along the Thach Han River. Since its release, the film has drawn over 8.1 million viewers, the highest in Vietnamese box office history, grossing 27 million USD as of September 28.
