PM Chinh made the statement while chairing a meeting of the Red River Coordinating Council in Hanoi on Tuesday, during which the Master Plan for Hanoi for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, was announced.
Noting that the average income of people in developed countries is approximately 13,800 USD per year, he said with the current growth rate, it will take Vietnam another 20 years to reach this level, while other countries will continue to raise their income standards. Therefore, it is necessary to seek measures to achieve double-digit growth, with clear tasks for central agencies and localities and close coordination among them, as well as a roadmap and plan to make breakthroughs in 2025, according to PM Chinh.
He suggested measures for the Red River Delta to develop rapidly and become a leading growth engine that drives the country’s economic restructuring and transformation of the growth model.
“It’s essential to remove institutional bottlenecks, put into operation the new administrative apparatus in the first quarter of 2025, and develop an action plan to advance science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation,” said Mr. Chinh.
He emphasized the need to mobilize all resources for development and promote regional connectivity, particularly economic and transportation linkages.
