People-to-people diplomacy a strategic pillar of modern foreign affairs: Politburo member
(VOVWORLD) - People-to-people diplomacy remains a key pillar of Vietnam’s foreign affairs, complementing Party external relations and State diplomacy and contributing to a peaceful, stable and favorable international environment for national development, according to a conference hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on Tuesday.

The approach has effectively leveraged Vietnam’s “soft power,” helping project the image of a peaceful, responsible country actively engaged in international integration.
Politburo Member and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu called for strong implementation of key tasks in 2026 and beyond, stressing that it is essential to improve awareness and build consensus across the entire political system about the position, role and importance of people-to-people diplomacy.
“This is not a supplementary activity, but one of the strategic pillars of comprehensive, modern foreign affairs. It plays a crucial role in enhancing mutual understanding, consolidating trust, and mobilizing the support and goodwill of people around the world,” he said.
