(VOVWORLD) - A ceremony to get 73 households in Nam Cum village of Dien Bien province connected to the national power grid was held on Wednesday.

At the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said bringing electricity to Nam Cum Village and neighboring areas will not only improve the quality of life for residents, but also help maintain political stability, foster sustainable economic development, and reduce regional disparities. It also demonstrates the Party and State’s care for ethnic minorities in remote areas, he added.
The Nam Cum Substation was completed in 40 days and includes over 16km of medium voltage lines, 10km of low voltage lines, and other related infrastructure. It is part of a program to bring electricity to Muong Dang and Ngoi Cay communes called “Light up Dien Bien.”
In addition to Nam Cum village, the substation will also bring electricity to 94 households in Chan 3 Village, Ngoi Cay Commune, one week ahead of the 2025 Lunar New Year.
