Russia is investing heavily in graphics processing units (GPUs), microchips that underpin AI development, one of the most promising and crucial technologies of the 21st century. Western sanctions intended to restrict Moscow's access to the technology have resulted in the world's major producers of microchips halting exports to Russia, severely limiting its AI ambitions.
Meanwhile, in his New Year greeting to President Putin on Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping lauded the comprehensive and enduring partnership between the two countries.
