Search and rescue underway at Japan's sea for missing Vietnamese citizens
(VOVWORLD) -One death and three missing persons were reported as a group of eight Vietnamese workers encountered a sea accident triggered by large waves in the sea area off Japan’s Fukui prefecture on Saturday, said the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.
Among them one injured is being treated in hospital, and three others were rescued unharmed.
Upon receiving report of the incident, the Embassy promptly contacted relevant authorities and the Vietnamese Association in Fukui Prefecture to assess the situation and coordinate measures to protect its citizens.
Japanese rescue teams deployed vessels and helicopters to the site to conduct search and rescue operations. Japanese authorities are continuing the search for the three missing persons.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan advises its citizens working and living in Japan not to go to sea during thunderstorms, and to avoid areas with warnings of high waves, strong winds, and dangerous terrain.
