The race between Park Geun-hye of the governing Saenuri party and Moon Jae-in of the Democratic United Party has been tightly fought. Pre-election polls showed Park slightly ahead of the Democratic United candidate. The National Election Commission of South Korea will begin the tallying as soon as polling stations close.
