(VOVworld) – Spain’s acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy announced the beginning of negotiations with other political parties on Thursday after his conservative People’s Party failed to win a majority in last week’s election. Rajoy told reporters on Wednesday that the coming negotiations would help him assess each party’s willingness to find a solution to the current problem.

In the election last week, the People’s Party won 137 seats, up 14 from that of last December’s election, but fell well short of the 176 seats needed to secure a majority to independently form a new government.
