(VOVworld) - Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said on Saturday that his government rejects talks about the possible federalization of Syria, stressing the unity of the country. He told a press conference in the capital Damascus that Syrian citizens will reject talks about a federal Syria.
The minister's remarks came a day after the United Nations envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, said that the possibility of federalism for Syria has not been taken off the table for the upcoming peace talks in Geneva.
Minister Wallid al Muallem said Damascus will not accept talks on the fate of President Bashar Al Assad and UN envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, has no right to talk about the presidential election in Syria.
