(VOVworld)- The “Friends of Syria” conference, including 11 Western and Arab countries who back the Syrian opposition forces held a meeting in Paris on Sunday. Participants issued a joint statement which calls on the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) to join the upcoming Geneva 2 conference on January 22. This faction has refused to take part in the Geneva 2 conference unless their prerequisites are met. Laurent Fabius, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, called on the opposition forces to attend the conference and said that only new political measures can resolve the current crisis in Syria.
