Thai Nguyen, RoK’s Gyeongsangbuk celebrate 20 years of cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s Thai Nguyen province and Republic of Korea’s Gyeongsangbuk province jointly celebrated the 20th anniversary of their cooperation at a ceremony in Thai Nguyen city on Monday.

Nguyen Thi Loan, Vice Chairwoman of the Thai Nguyen provincial People's Committee, said the partnership between Thai Nguyen and Gyeongsangbuk over the past 20 years, has grown stronger and more effective in economy, education, health care, and cultural exchange. She highlighted the "Saemaul New Village" model in Thai Nguyen as a successful example that has brought real benefits to local people.

Kang Seok-Hee, Deputy Governor of Gyeongsangbuk, pledged to strengthen cooperation and build closer ties between the two provinces, and said he hopes the partnership will become a model for cooperation between the two countries.

Thai Nguyen and Gyeongsangbuk first signed a friendship cooperation agreement in 2005. In 2019, they signed a memorandum of understanding to broaden cooperation based on respect, equality, and mutual benefit. Thai Nguyen’s Dinh Hoa district, Song Cong city, and Pho Yen city established partnerships with the RoK’s Cheongdo county, Mungyeong city, and Chilgok county in 2014, 2018 and 2023.
