Trump says Ukraine peace deal closer than ever

(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday that an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine is “closer than ever”.

Trump reaffirmed that he helped settle at least 8 conflicts across the world in the first 10 months of his second term in the White House, while asserting that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is more difficult to resolve than all the others, but there is a high probability it will be completed soon.

A White House official said Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will meet with a Russian delegation in Miami this weekend, following a meeting with a Ukrainian delegation in Berlin earlier this week.

US officials said they believe Russia and Ukraine are not far apart, but the thorniest issue - territory - remains unresolved.
