UAV innovation contest for students held for first time in Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) -The UAV Innovation Competition 2025-PV GAS Cup, the first national contest on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) ended on Sunday in Hanoi with the Skyvision team of Ton Duc Thang University becoming the winners.

The competition was organized by the Institute of Space and Underwater Technology Research, a unit of Hanoi University of Science and Technology and sponsor PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PVGAS).

The competition focused on designing and manufacturing UAV products with a certain level of intelligence, combining control skills to overcome obstacle systems simulating real-life tasks such as providing energy bars in future cities or supporting emergency situations.

From the qualifying rounds, the Jury selected 28 excellent teams to participate in the final round from December 3-7. The Skyvision team of Ton Duc Thang University were crowned the champions. The BK-IAV team of Hanoi University of Science and Technology won the second place, and the LH-TDH team of Lac Hong University third place.

Dr. Dinh Tan Hung, Director of the Institute of Space and Underwater Technology, representing the Organizing Committee, said, “After its launch on September 9, 2025, there were more than 100 teams from all over the country competing. The final round went through exciting and dramatic matches. These are the students’ necessary accumulations in research, overcoming themselves to conquer greater challenges in the future. This is the first national UAV competition with many challenges and expectations.”

The Organizing Committee plans to continue to organize two new competitions in July and August 2026, including UAV Innovation Competition with advanced scenarios and bigger challenges, and with smart diving device innovation.
