(VOVWORLD) -14 Security Council members, in a joint statement on Wednesday, said the famine in Gaza is a "man-made crisis," and warned that the use of starvation as a weapon of war is banned under international humanitarian law.

All council members, except for the United States, called for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza; the release of all hostages held by Hamas and other groups; a substantive increase in humanitarian aid throughout Gaza, and for Israel to immediately and unconditionally lift all restrictions on aid delivery.
Despite mounting international pressure, Israel has said it will not end its military campaign in Gaza until Hamas is completely eliminated.
