(VOVWORLD) -Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he will meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington DC on Monday to discuss details of the ceasefire with Russia.
President Zelensky revealed in a post on Telegram channel on Saturday that he had a phone call with President Trump before a joint discussion with European leaders about the results of the Russia-US summit in Alaska on Friday.
“We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, America and Russia. Ukraine emphasizes that key issues can be discussed at the level of leaders, and the trilateral format is suitable for this,” Zelensky said.
"Ukraine reaffirms its readiness to work with maximum effort to achieve peace," Zelensky said in a post on X.
The US President also announced on social media that he would welcome President Zelensky to the Oval Office of the White House on Monday afternoon. During the summit with President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday, President Trump said the best way to end the conflict in Ukraine is “to go directly to a Peace Agreement and not a mere Ceasefire Agreement, which often times do not hold up."
