US, China likely to reach trade deal soon

(VOVWORLD) - The US and China are likely to reach a good settlement soon on immediate trade issues, while agreement on more structural trade issues and enforcement will be harder, US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross said Monday as US-China trade talks resumed.

Ross, in an interview on CNBC, said the talks in Beijing will determine whether trade differences between the world’s two largest economies can be resolved through negotiation.

Lawrence J. Lau, an economics professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, predicted Washington and Beijing will reach a deal that leads to further trade de-escalation in March.
