US Presidential Election update: Public opinion and attitudes

Democratic candidate President Barack Obama is gaining his advantage over Republican former Governor Mitt Romney. Opinion polls announced on October 17 by CNN/ORC International indicated that according to 46 % of voters, Obama won decisively in the debate October 16 at Hofstra University, New York. Only 39 % thought Romney had won. However, there was about half of the 457 voters pooled said that the candidates’ performance was not persuasive enough to secure their vote. More than 60 % of those pooled said Obama performed better than expected
