(VOVworld) - US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Cairo Sunday and met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Addressing a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry, Kerry praised al-Sisi for the inclusive talks in which they discussed bilateral relations, strategic partnership, and the conflicts in Iraq, Syria, and Libya. Kerry repeated President Barack Obama’s assurance that the US looks forward to working closely with President al-Sisi and supports freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association in Egypt. Analysts say Kerry’s visit is an attempt to bolster US ties with Egypt, a key strategic ally in the Middle East.
