However, the shifting Palisades Fire, the largest of the six blazes that ignited on January 7, has forced authorities to issue new evacuation orders for Brentwood and the San Fernando Valley foothills.

The fires have already claimed at least 11 lives and destroyed 10,000 structures. The death toll is expected to rise as firefighters are assessing the damage. A public health emergency has been declared due to the widespread destruction, thousands of displaced residents, and heavy smoke.
About 153,000 people are under mandatory evacuation orders, with an additional 166,800 under warnings. Curfews are in effect in all evacuation zones to prevent looting and maintain public order.
