Vice President calls for more UNICEF support for Vietnamese children

(VOVWORLD) - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan said she hopes UNICEF will increase resources to support the protection and care of Vietnamese children and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals for children in education, health, nutrition, gender equality, and vaccine support for the Expanded Program on Immunization.

At a reception for UNICEF Representative in Vietnam Silvia Danailov in Hanoi on Tuesday, Vice President Xuan asked UNICEF to support disadvantaged areas, remote regions, and regions affected by natural disasters and climate change. Vietnam hopes UNICEF will collaborate and share experiences in helping children and raising their awareness about disaster response and prevention, she added.

Ms. Danailov praised Vietnam for being one of the first countries to ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, reflecting the Government’s commitment to promoting children’s rights.

UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, is active in 190 countries and territories.
