(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Angola issued a joint statement Friday during Vietnamese President Luong Cuong’s state visit to Angola.

President Cuong and his wife visited from Wednesday to Friday at the invitation of Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço and his wife.
During the trip, the Vietnamese President held talks with President Lourenço, met with National Assembly President Carolina Cerqueira, and delivered a policy address at a special plenary session of the Angolan National Assembly.
He also laid flowers at Ho Chi Minh Avenue and the Monument to Angola’s Unknown Soldiers, attended a ceremony marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and visited the Angolan Military History Museum in Luanda.
The two leaders agreed to accelerate negotiations towards the early signing of key foundational agreements, including one on investment promotion and protection and another on the avoidance of double taxation.
They underscored the importance of upholding international law and the United Nations Charter, and agreed to enhance coordination and mutual support on regional and international issues.
Both sides also pledged to facilitate conditions for their citizens to live, work, and study in each other’s countries.
