(VOVworld)- National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on Wednesday held talks with Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, Anna Burke, who is on an official visit to Vietnam. Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said that he hoped that the Speaker’s visit would contribute to strengthening the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries and heighten friendship and cooperation between the Australian Parliament and the Vietnamese National Assembly. He hoped that the two sides would continue to support each other in regional and world forums.

Speaker Anna Burke promised to exert more efforts to boost bilateral ties between the two Parliaments and governments. She said the cooperation in national defense, security and peace-building efforts in the region was of great importance, and that Australia hoped to enhance cooperation with Vietnam in these areas. Ms Burke suggested the two sides increase visit exchanges to boost cooperation and mutual understanding.

On the occasion, the two legislative bodies signed an agreement to raise bilateral cooperation to a new level. Vietnam hopes to expand dialogue with Australian in various fields.
