Vietnam calls for more efforts for Haiti’s future

(VOVWORLD) - Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, head of the Vietnamese mission to the UN, urged all stakeholders to join constructive dialogues to help Haiti, which has been politically unstable for the past two years.

At a UN Security Council teleconference on Monday, Quy called on all parties to agree on an electoral process and framework, an election calendar, and the composition of an Electoral Council, and stressed the importance of protecting vulnerable groups like women and children. He urged the international community to provide technical assistance and protective measures to Haiti in this difficult time.
Mr. Quy hailed the UN Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) for its support for Haiti, and urged renewal of the office’s mandate.
