During talks in Preah Sihanouk on Monday, the two reached a consensus on tightening connections between military units stationed along their shared border to improve security there.Senior Lieutenant General Ty said China’s illegal deployment of oil rig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf since May not only violates Vietnam’s sovereignty but also poses a great challenge to peace, political security, and stability in the region. He underscored the need for unity among ASEAN members in pushing for a Code of Conduct in the East Sea to put an end to unilateral acts of aggression.

During his visit, General Ty placed a floral wreath at a memorial dedicated to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers. The Vietnamese delegation paid a visit to the Ream Naval Base, the largest base the Cambodian Royal Armed Forces, which has received training and equipment from the Vietnamese Navy for years.
