Vietnam, China committed to prioritizing bilateral ties
(VOVWORLD) - The Party, State, and people of Vietnam always treasure China’s invaluable support and assistance to Vietnam in different periods of history, Party General Secretary To Lam said during phone talks on Wednesday with Party General Secretary and President of China, Xi Jinping, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Mr. Lam reaffirmed that developing relations with China is a top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and multilateralization and diversification. Party leader and President Xi reiterated that the Chinese Party and State prioritize developing relations with Vietnam in its neighborhood diplomacy.
The two leaders announced the launch of the Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange Year 2025 and highlighted the importance of educating the young people of both countries about the fruitful traditional bilateral friendship.
They agreed to enhance strategic exchanges between the two Parties and States, particularly high-level exchanges that provide strategic orientations for bilateral relations.
They pledged to improve cooperation mechanisms across Party, Government, National Assembly/National People's Congress, and Vietnam Fatherland Front/Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference channels.
Both sides emphasized the need to boost cooperation in defense and security as critical pillars of their relationship, create new breakthroughs in economic cooperation, with priority given to railway connections, and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and emerging industries.
General Secretary To Lam invited General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his spouse to soon visit Vietnam again in 2025. Mr. Xi accepted the invitation with pleasure.
