Vietnam, China discuss establishing army hotline

(VOVworld) - A direct security hotline between the Defense Ministries of Vietnam and China is necessary to promptly share information of mutual concern, thus strengthening cooperation between the two peoples and armies. Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan affirmed the hotline’s importance during his meeting on Tuesday in Hanoi with Miao Hongbo, Head of China’s Zhong Nanhai Telegraph Office.

Miao said his office will work closely with the VPA’s Information and Communication Arm to produce equipment and figure out solutions for anticipated breakdowns. The two nations expect to put the hotline into operation this year.
