Chairing a working session with representatives of several ministries, agencies and localities at Dong Dang railway station in Lang Son province on Thursday, after a field inspection, General Secretary Lam said railway cooperation between Vietnam and China is a necessity and an opportunity, representing a practical and effective area of bilateral cooperation in the coming years.
The Party leader described it as a powerful lever for Vietnam to modernize infrastructure, reduce logistics costs, expand international connectivity, and gradually master a new foundational industry.

Mr. Lam emphasized the need to ensure key principles in strategic cooperation, including alignment with Vietnam’s national development strategy and infrastructure planning, diversified funding sources, economic efficiency, and transparency in technology and standards.
Noting the heavy workload, tight timeline and high requirements, he called for strong determination and unity across the entire political system.
The Government’s Party Committee, especially the Ministry of Construction, was tasked with developing a Vietnam–China railway development strategy as part of the broader national railway plan for 2026–2030, with a vision to 2045, 2100 and 2130.
