According to the Department of Overseas Labour Management of Vietnam’s Ministry of Home Affairs, Vietnam sends 160,000 workers abroad each year. 800,000 Vietnamese workers from 30 occupational groups are currently employed in 40 countries and territories.
Europe is regarded as a key market with a strong demand for foreign labour.
Greece alone has received 1,300 Vietnamese workers since late 2023, most of whom are working in the service, manufacturing, and agricultural sectors.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong said Vietnam plans to develop a highly skilled technical workforce to meet the country’s development needs, while stepping up efforts to send Vietnamese workers abroad for employment.
