Addressing a ceremony on Wednesday at UN Headquarters in New York to mark the UN Day of Vesak, Ambassador Giang said the Buddha's philosophy of compassion, wisdom, and peace is the lodestar for humanity to meet challenges together and build a global community that is united, respectful, and sustainable.

These noble values also reflect the fundamental principles of the UN, he noted.

Mr. Giang said Vietnam has successfully hosted Vesak 2025, drawing monks, nuns, and followers from many countries. This year Vesak coincides with Vietnam’s 50th anniversary of national reunification on April 30 and 80th National Day on September 2.

The Ambassador extended his best wishes to Buddhists around the world and called on countries and peoples to spread the spirit of compassion, harmony, and tolerance and build a peaceful, just world where no one is left behind.
