Man said the establishment of Parliamentary Friendship Groups serves as a vital bridge for enhancing cooperation between the two legislatures. He urged the Irish Parliament to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) to facilitate trade and investment ties.
Speaker Murphy affirmed Ireland’s commitment to strengthening trade, investment, and education cooperation with Vietnam, and expressed support for establishing a Parliamentary Friendship Group with Vietnam to boost inter-parliamentary collaboration. She also agreed to enhance cooperation between the two countries in multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the ASEAN-EU framework.
The two leaders agreed to further legislative cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and partnerships in trade, investment, education, and science and technology.
Later the same day, Chairman Tran Thanh Man also met with Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
