(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is an important and close partner of Russia in Asia-Pacific, said Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, during a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son in Moscow on Monday.

Kosachev said Russia’s upper house backs the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in all spheres, as well as accelerating the ratification and implementation of all agreements between the two nations. He vowed to do his best to speed up deliveries of the Sputnik V vaccine to Vietnam.

Minister Son asked the Federal Council to support collaboration between Vietnamese and Russian localities and back people-to-people exchanges.

The same day, Mr. Son visited Vietnam’s military attaché office in Moscow, laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh monument, visited the Monument to Unknown Martyrs, and met representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia and staff of the Vietnam Embassy in Russia.
