(VOVworld) – An international scientific seminar in the Lao province of Khammounane on Tuesday discussed green growth and its pursuit by nations of the Greater Mekong Sub-region.

The event was co-organized by the Lao National Academy of Social Sciences, the Korean Environment Institute, the Global Green Growth Institute and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Cambodian Royal Institute of Sciences. Participants analyzed recent attempts to promote green economic growth, considered strategies for sustainable green growth, and assessed the environmental impacts of socio-economic development and agriculture. Dr Thongxalit Manomek, acting chairman of the Lao National Academy of Social Sciences said the seminar was not only an opportunity for nations to learn from each other but also helps Laos gain more experience for sustainable economic development.
