Vietnam leads world in cashew production and export

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has been the world's largest producer and exporter of cashew since 2006, according to the Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) at a ceremony to mark the Association’s 30th anniversary in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday.

Vietnam’s cashew industry hopes to export 450,000 tons this year, earning 3.2 billion USD, according to the Association.

Despite the COVID-19 epidemic, cashew exports exceeded 420,000 tons as of the end of October, up 12% from last year, earning 2.6 billion USD.

VINACAS Chairman Pham Van Cong said the Vietnamese cashew industry has the world's most advanced processing technology. The Association wants the Government to adopt a strategy to help Vietnam's cashew industry develop its processing to meet the demands of the world market.
