(VOVWORLD) -New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and his wife chaired a welcoming ceremony in Wellington on Monday for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

The welcoming ceremony was held according to the protocol for heads of foreign governments on official visits to New Zealand with a traditional Maori ritual.
Prime Minister Luxon invited Prime Minister Chinh to step onto the podium of honor. The military band played the Vietnamese national anthem as the Vietnamese national flag was raised and fluttered in the wind, followed by 19 rounds of cannon fire to welcome the Prime Minister and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.
After the welcoming ceremony, the two PMs held talks.
During his visit, Prime Minister Chinh will meet and hold talks with senior leaders of New Zealand to discuss measures to boost bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, labor, education-training, and agriculture.
He will work with New Zealand's leading associations and businesses and visit and work with New Zealand science, technology and education organizations.
