Vietnam prepares to deal with greater COVID-19 threat this winter

(VOVWORLD) - The health sector is staying prepared to fight the COVID-19 pandemic as forecasts say the pandemic could continue through the end of next year.

Acting Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said on Tuesday during an online conference on COVID-19 prevention that even though Vietnam has recorded no new transmissions of the coronavirus for 41 straight days, the risk of the disease entering Vietnam remains high.  Now is the time for Vietnam to prepare to fight the pandemic this winter, Mr.Long said. He urged localities to review their pandemic scenarios.

Acting Minister Long stressed five principles for fighting COVID-19: preventing infection, detecting cases, quarantining both suspected and confirmed cases, treating COVID-19 symptoms, and isolating and stamping out outbreaks.
