(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese President Luong Cuong has reaffirmed Vietnam’s priority for strengthening its relationship with Cambodia, urging continued collaboration to address mutual challenges.

Speaking at a meeting with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni on Thursday, President Cuong proposed the King support efforts to simplify the process for eligible Vietnamese citizens to live in Cambodia and create a conducive environment for them to live and work legally.
The President highlighted the vital role of Vietnamese communities in fostering stronger ties between the two nations.

King Sihamoni assured that Cambodia would forever value Vietnam’s past and present support, from helping the country overcome genocide to its contributions to modern development.
He pledged to work with other Cambodian leaders, including Senate President Hun Sen, National Assembly President Khuon Sudary, and Prime Minister Hun Manet, to deepen the traditional friendship between the two nations.
The two sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations across all sectors, with a focus on educating younger generations about the shared history of solidarity and sacrifice.
President Luong Cuong conveyed warm regards to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and extended an invitation for the Queen Mother and King to visit Vietnam.
King Sihamoni, in return, expressed hopes to welcome President Luong Cuong to Cambodia soon.
