Vietnam, US hold major potential in educational development

(VOVworld) - The Vietnamese Embassy in Washington D.C. has held a workshop to explore educational cooperation opportunities with the US. Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong said Vietnam has the 8th largest number of students in the US with nearly 16,000 students studying in the country:“US universities and businesses are interested in both countries’ priorities in education cooperation. Human resource development is one of major strategy in socio-economic development in Vietnam by 2020. Vietnam plans to allocate trillions dongs to finance PhD and English language training courses, making this a major potential area for bilateral cooperation.”

Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of State, Susan Stevenson, comments on bilateral educational cooperation: "It is life changing experience that helps form ties that are very strong throughout a lifetime. And there's nothing like living in another country get perspectives not only on cultural exchanges but also one's own country to see how my country is viewed from overseas. Education exchanges help bring the US closer to the the rest of the Asia Pacific region”.
