Vietnam, US work together to deliver on climate commitments

(VOVWORLD) -Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha on Monday reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment made at COP26 to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, saying Vietnam has taken comprehensive measures in energy transition towards this goal.

Minister Ha met US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry on Monday on the sidelines of COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. He emphasized that both ensuring energy security to serve economic development and reducing greenhouse gas emissions is a difficult and complicated problem, which calls for international support in resources and technology. He asked the US and other G7 countries to deliver on the commitments made on equitable energy transition.
Kerry said the US has made its commitments in energy transition and G7 will continue to review the commitments within the Group. He promised support for Vietnam in the fair energy transition, response to climate change, as well as cooperation and implementation of commitments with Vietnam.
