She was responding to a question about the US State Department’s 2025 Trafficking in Persons Report, which includes an assessment of Vietnam’s performance in tackling human trafficking.
Vietnam has been implementing and promoting its program on the prevention and combat of human trafficking for the 2021-2025 period, with a vision toward 2030, Ms. Hang said.
“Key measures include adopting the Law on Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking in 2024; strengthening investigation, prosecution and trial of related cases; identifying and supporting victims; and responding promptly to new challenges of human trafficking in the region and the world,” she noted.
Vietnam is making efforts to achieve the goals of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, under the plan issued by the Prime Minister on March 20, 2020, according to Ms. Hang. “The aim is to ensure a transparent migration environment, protect the legitimate rights and interests of migrants, and prevent human trafficking risks in international migration.”
Ms. Hang said Vietnam hopes to continue working closely with the United States to deepen cooperation, enhance exchanges and dialogues, and foster a more comprehensive and positive assessment of Vietnam’s efforts to prevent and combat human trafficking. Such cooperation, she added, aligns with the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
