These photos not only honor servicewomen’s contributions but also give the public an insight into their arduous journeys in distant lands, said Deputy Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Mac Duc Trong. He was speaking on Friday at the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition, titled “Vietnamese female military personnel in United Nations peacekeeping operations.

“The photos are vivid proofs of Vietnamese servicewomen’s courage, resilience, and humanitarian spirit. They also reflect a deep desire for peace of the Vietnamese people,” Mr. Trong said.

At the event, the Vietnamese “blue-beret” soldiers shared their stories in UN peacekeeping missions, which have inspired and encouraged the comprehensive and meaningful participation of women in peacekeeping activities while also enhancing public’s awareness of issues related to women, peace, and security.

The exhibition will run until November 8.
