According to Ambassador Khoi, today’s Vietnam-Russia relations are built upon the special friendship between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union in the past.
Thanks to the determination and efforts of the leaders and peoples of both countries, the relationship has grown strongly. Vietnam and Russia signed the Treaty on Fundamental Principles of Friendly Relations in 1994, and elevated their ties to a strategic partnership in 2001 and a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012.
Ambassador Khoi described the profound friendship and mutual affection shared by the two peoples as the most valuable achievement of their bilateral relationship.
"These sincere and close ties, along with the achievements and valuable experiences gained from bilateral cooperation, will continue serve as a solid foundation for Vietnam-Russia relations to reach new heights across all fields including politics, diplomacy, and economy," he said.
Ambassador Khoi noted that the top priority for future Vietnam-Russia relations is solidifying mutual political trust, strengthening mutual support and coordinating viewpoints in international forums.
Besides defense and security cooperation, which remains the cornerstone of the comprehensive strategic partnership, the focus will be placed on creating a favorable legal framework to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation, he added.
