Hoan Kiem Lake is a popular destination for visitors and local residents during the 2026 New Year holiday.

International arrivals reached approximately 110,000 between Thursday and Sunday, marking an increase of nearly 287% compared to the same period last year.

The figures highlight a strong recovery and robust growth of the capital’s tourism sector from the very first days of the new year.

This surge was underpinned by a series of large-scale cultural and tourism events. Hanoi staged fireworks displays at five locations and introduced a range of new experiential programs, including the illuminated space around Hoan Kiem Lake, the digital exhibition “Radiant Hanoi – Light and Heritage,” as well as countdown celebrations and music and art performances featuring both domestic and international artists.
