Asia remained the largest importer, absorbing more than 45% of the sector’s exports, followed by the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Oceania. Vietnam’s three largest export markets were China, the US, and Japan.
By product category, exports of coffee, rubber, tea, rice, fruit, vegetables, cashew nuts, and pepper saw strong growth in both volume and value compared to the same period last year. Coffee and rubber continued to lead exports.
The ministry said the sector will continue agricultural restructuring towards higher value products, sustainable development, and greater food safety and traceability. This restructuring will be carried out across crops, livestock, fisheries, and forestry, and throughout the entire value chain from production to distribution, in order to adapt to different export markets.
