He emphasized the establishment of inter-ministerial teams to conduct inspections in localities, with reports due by January 25. It’s imperative to improve the management and monitoring of fishing fleets, control the departure and arrival of fishing vessels, and ensure management is done in accordance with regulations.

There will be stricter inspection of self-declaration and self-reporting by businesses, as well as the rectification of shortcomings in processing and exporting to the EU and other markets. The PM stressed the need to keep in check the installation and maintenance of vessel monitoring systems (VMS), the operation of local fisheries databases, and the implementation of occupational transition policies at the local level will be kept in check.

The Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Science and Technology to direct the standardization and interoperability of fisheries databases. The Ministry of National Defense continues patrolling and monitoring in the waters bordering other countries to prevent fishing vessels from violating foreign waters. The Ministry of Public Security investigates and prosecutes cases of brokering the illegal exploitation of foreign waters by fishing vessels/fishermen. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs works with relevant authorities in host countries and captains detained abroad to investigate, gather evidence, and thoroughly handle violations in accordance with regulations, according to the dispatch.
