At the celebration in Cairo, Nguyen Huy Dung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt, underlined the significance of the event on September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the declaration of independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

He added that over the past 79 years, Vietnam has achieved milestones in building, protecting, and developing the country under the leadership of the Communist Party. Vietnam has risen to become a dynamic economy with a high growth rate and consolidated its prestige and international position, said Ambassador Dung.

Ambassador Ahmed Shaheen, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia-Pacific, expressed his hope that the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation in all fields, especially in politics, economics, diplomacy, and cultural exchange.

“There is no doubt that exchanging high level visits is an important sign of how strong bilateral relations are. However, there is a great potential that is left unseen. Both sides need to work on consolidating the legal framework of the bilateral cooperation through upgrading the existing agreements, finalizing new agreements to be signed in the new future, and activating the signed ones to maximize the benefits yielded on both sides,” the ambassador noted.
