Vietnam’s outstanding pharmaceutical firms, products honored
(VOVworld) – The Ministry of Health honored 30 pharmaceutical companies and 62 medicinal products with “the star of Vietnamese medicine” awards for the first time on Tuesday. At the award ceremony in Hanoi, the Ministry reviewed the 1-year implementation of the program “Vietnamese medicine roadmap” under the campaign “Vietnamese give priority to Vietnam’s medicine” which was designed to improve public confidence in locally produced medicines, thus develop Vietnam’s pharmaceutical sector sustainably.
Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said: “The program “Vietnamese medicine roadmap” has yielded encouraging results. Honorees were 62 medicinal products with high quality and nice design and 30 pharmaceutical companies with the most favored products. They have promoted the competitiveness of Vietnamese medicines against imported drugs”.

Since the campaign “Vietnamese give priority to Vietnam’s medicine” began 2 years ago, health departments and central hospitals have saved 36% of the money spent on medicines. The volume and revenue of locally produced medicines have doubled at central and provincial hospitals.
