(VOVworld) - Vietnam will collaborate fully with other ASEAN members to establish the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in late 2015, Ambassador Nguyen Hoanh Nam, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to ASEAN, said Thursday while presenting his credentials to ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh at ASEAN Secretariat headquarters in Jakarta.

Nam said Vietnam will help to promote ASEAN’s position in the world and contribute to regional peace, stability, and cooperation.

He said the formation of the AEC this year is particularly important to Vietnam, as 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of Vietnam's accession to ASEAN.

ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh said ASEAN has gained significant achievements and is working on developing its post-2015 vision. He praised cooperation between the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) and the ASEAN Secretariat and said he hopes to work more closely with the Vietnamese delegation.
